BackNHM & NIPI join hands in Odisha to decentralize its approach to innovations in public health
With an aim to foster innovation culture among district level health functionaries, a webinar was organized on 19th November 2020 by Norway India Partnership Initiative (NIPI) with support from National Health Mission (NHM), Odisha. The organization of this event is a first in a series of events to build capacity of districts to promote ideation of local solutions to their specific challenges and include them in the district program implementation plan process.
The virtual orientation was attended by total of 83 participants, including District Program Managers (DPM), Deputy Managers RCH (DMRCH) from each of 30 districts and the health planners and officials from NHM, Odisha. The State Program Manager, NHM, Odisha shared with audience and highlighted the importance of innovations in health to keep pace with changing landscape and increasing demand for quality healthcare services. Drs. Vivek Yadav and Ashish Srivastava, members of NIPI national team, explained the process of presenting innovative solutions as proposal with the state in detail. . Project Director, NIPI appreciated the fact that Odisha was the only state in the country which, as a first, had provisioned INR 8 crores for the innovation in the NHM Program Implementation Plan (PIP) at the district level.
Dr Dinabandhu Sahu, Team Lead, State Health Systems Resource Centre (SHSRC) impressed upon district health teams to make optimal use of this unique opportunity and advised them to strive towards searching for out of the box solutions to problems being faced regularly in health programs.
Taking the initiative forward, it was also agreed that the proposal writing skills of health planners at the district and state level would also be strengthened in the coming days.
